I don’t know what he was holding on to but based on the damage i wouldn’t normally call that a firecracker. to peel the skin off like that would take alot more than a normal firecracker. In fact i’ve let a firecracker go off in my hand, with an open hand and it didn’t do more than sting and make my ears ring. even if you made a tight fist you’d need something alot bigger than your average firecracker to do taht.

    could be a fake

An average firecracker could definitely do that. If you were to make a tight fist around the firecracker. A simple example would be think about how much difference it makes when you drop firecrackers into water. The density of the water causes high compression from the firecracker. Your fist, being much denser than water, will cause a whole lot more compression and more damage.

Fake story. Worse thing that happens to you is a little burn and numbing of the hand.

Shouldn’t the skin be charred? I mean, fireworks do create fire and all. It looks more like the dude got his hand caught in some machinery or something.

The key word in your comment, is open. If you light a M80 and clench your tightly around it, this can happen.

    SAM-
Unfortunately, this happens in third world countries. They are not regular firecrackers…. they are actually a little larger than what you have in the western world. Where yours may “Sting” some people actually lose their whole hand.

I’ve had a home-made firecracker explode in my hand. Too short of a fuse, sadly.
It caused a small crater in my hand, like a gouged out section, and bled like mad Hell.
However, that photo is a bit extreme.

if it was a m80 or something more powerful then that it could do that, you were just holding a regular fire cracker, the bigger ones can blow a hole in a fridge door… i stumble ed here
